"Pig in the Middle" Task Outline
Tactical Problem:  Incorporating the in-step pass to elude the defender (pig).
Skill Objective:  Passing the soccer ball using the in-step of the foot.
Teaching Points: 

Tactic:

  • Pass to your partner while eluding the defender
Skill:
  • Passing to open space
  • Contact ball with in-step of foot
  • Faking the defender
  • Moving to open space to receive a pass
  • Verbal/non-verbal communication

Organizational Points: 
  • 3 players per grid
  • 2 skipping ropes laid on ground to limit defender's space
Extending Task:
  • Increase the space between partners
  • Increase space of defender by moving skipping ropes
Simplifying Task:
  • Decrease the space between partners (within reason)
  • Decrease space of the defender
  • Change ball to a smaller size
